If you are looking for a nutritious breakfast with whole grains and extra protein, overnight oats with cottage cheese is the perfect solution. Cottage cheese is a great source of protein.
Because cottage cheese has such a high protein content while being low calories I love use it to make high protein recipes like my blended cottage cheese bowls, or cottage cheese pancakes.
So, I thought why not add cottage cheese to my favorite overnight oats recipe. This overnight oats recipe is made with simple ingredients and can be flavored different ways. The best part is that this recipe takes only 5 minutes to make and is ready the next morning for the perfect make-ahead breakfast.

cottage cheese- you can use your favorite variety of cottage cheese or even make blended cottage cheese if you are not a fan of curds. Using low-fat or whole milk is personal preference and will only slightly change the nutritional information.
old-fashioned oats- are the best option for overnight oats. They hold their texture well and do not get too soft. Even after soaking for several days they have a slightly chewy texture.
Step-By-Step Instructions
In a large mixing bowl add the almond milk, cottage cheese, honey, and cinnamon. Stir the oats and chia seeds into the mixture.

strawberries and blueberries- any fresh fruit is great in overnight oats. You could also use fresh peaches or raspberries.

almond milk- oat milk, soy milk, coconut milk or any other non-dairy milk work well in overnight oats.
peanut butter- a drizzle of peanut butter or almond butter is a great topping for overnight oatmeal.
protein powder- if you are wanting to add extra protein to this recipe try adding a scoop of protein powder. My favorite is vanilla in my protein overnight oats and I have tips on how to make this protein oatmeal.
toppings- get creative and use what you have in your pantry! Hemp seeds, coconut flakes, and flax seeds are all great additions for overnight oats.
Can I Use Quick Oats For Overnight Oats?
Quick oats are more processed than old-fashioned oats so that they cook faster. Because of this they can become soggy quickly and should be eaten in 1-2 days after preparation for best results.
Can You Freeze Overnight Oats?
Yes! Overnight oats with cottage cheese can be frozen. It is best to freeze for 1-3 months for the best texture.
To thaw remove the oats from the freezer and place in the refrigerator to thaw overnight.
