Hi there! My name is Bobbie Blue and I'm the one behind the scenes creating recipes at Blue's Best Life. I'm so glad that you are here so I can share my family's favorite recipes with you.
Here's the funny story about my cooking journey.
When I was 20 I moved from Kentucky to Florida and found myself very homesick. I missed the comforts of home-cooked meals at my parents' house. At this time I could barely boil water. Making my grandmother's famous spaghetti and meatballs was out of the question at that time!
So I taught myself to cook. I called my mom and had her give me a recipe over the phone. Keep in mind that this was long before the convenience of smartphones and I didn't have a computer! So, I'd scribble a few notes on a piece of paper and get busy in the kitchen.
Sure I had a few catastrophes along the way. A few dinners that were, let's just say questionable. But I learned, not only how to cook, but how to show my family how much I cared with my food.
Food is what gathers us around the dinner table every night. Recipes are special keys to a person's background and upbringing. We can all remember that favorite recipe that our mom or grandmother made every Christmas. It's a part of us.
What Blue's Best Life is About:
What are my favorite foods to cook?
I like to focus on nutritious meals that are full of flavor. I focus on a variety of food. My main source of protein comes from poultry, seafood and fish. I always fill my plate with fresh veggies and whole grains.
I will never give up cheese, chocolate or wine. So yes, you will find the occasional dessert because I think there is always room for a little something sweet! And one of my favorite things to make in the kitchen, is an irresistible dessert to share with my family and friends!
How Meal Planning Makes Life Easier
I'm a huge advocate for meal planning. I may not spend an entire day in the kitchen making dinners for the week but I do try to always make leftovers for lunch for the next few days. Or I'll make extra for a make ahead meal I can freeze for the next month. No matter how much I may love to cook, dinner time can be stressful when everyone is hungry and waiting for you to put dinner on the table.
Who are the taste testers for Blue's Best Life?
All of my recipes are made for my family. My husband, Robbie, is completely supportive of Blue's Best Life. Of course he loves being the taste tester and has been the inspiration for a few of the recipes. Mia, my step daughter likes to help in the kitchen. She of course is my most challenging taste tester. Most eleven year old's seem to have an aversion to green things! I also have my mother in law who lives with us and my mother that lives 3 miles away. I definitely have to maneuver around the kitchen to find recipes that everyone can agree on!
What will you find on Blue's Best Life?
A little bit of everything. I love to bake muffins for breakfast, prep lunches for work and cook a nutritious dinner. Nothing overly complicated, but good wholesome recipes with fresh ingredients. I try to sneak in whole grains and veggies where I can!
Where can you find me when I'm not in the kitchen
I enjoy spending time outdoors, riding my bike, jogging or going to the beach. I love living in Florida where I can do these things all year long!
