Why You'll Love This Peach Cobbler With Cake Mix Recipe!
This cake mix peach cobbler recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes you'll ever make! This easy dessert recipe calls for fresh juicy peaches, a box of cake mix and a few pantry staples.
Fruit desserts are my favorite especially in the summer when there is an abundance of fresh fruit. Cobbler recipes are my favorite way to use those fresh peaches. Of course you can't beat a traditional peach cobbler but when you need a dessert quick, this easy cake mix peach cobbler works like a charm. No mixer or pastry blender needed. Just dump and bake! You can also try my Puff Pastry Peach Cobbler for another way to make this easy dessert.
Is This a Cobbler Or A Dump Cake?
It's both technically. You can call this a peach cobbler dump cake or a peach dump cake. Either way its delicious peach pie filling begs for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Equipment Needed
casserole dish- use a 9x13 inch casserole is the best for this amount of peaches and cake mix.
Key Ingredients
peaches- fresh ripe peaches are delicious in this simple peach cobbler recipe. Peach season only lasts for a few months in late summer, so make sure you make this family favorite!
cake mix- a box of yellow cake mix is the perfect crumbly topping to make your cobbler.
Step-By-Step Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish and add the sliced peaches. Sprinkle the peaches with cornstarch, cinnamon and cardamon. Stir to coat the peaches.
Sprinkle cake mix all over the top of the peaches. Pour the melted butter over the top trying to completely cover the dry cake mix. Use a knife to help distribute the butter as evenly as possible.
Bake the cobbler in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. At the last 5 minutes of baking sprinkle the top of the cobbler with turbinado sugar. This is completely optional but gives the cobbler crust a nice crispy caramelized crunch.
How Do You Know When Peach Cobbler Is Done?
The peaches should be very soft and have created a thick syrup. The top of the cobbler will have a beautiful golden brown top. When tested with a thermometer the temperature should be around 200° F.
Serving Suggestions
Peach cobbler is best served warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can also serve this easy peach cobbler recipe at room temperature.
Do You Have To Use Ripe Peaches For Cobbler?
The best peaches for cobbler are ripe peaches. If they are too hard they will need to bake longer in the oven and probably won't be as sweet and juicy. Make sure they are not overripe though because this will cause a mushy cobbler.
Do You Cover Cobbler With Foil When Baking?
It is best to bake cobblers uncovered. The reason is because the aluminum foil will trap the steam inside the pan and cause the top to become soggy. Also baking it uncovered will create a beautiful golden brown top.
Substitutions And Additions
peaches- I love fresh peaches but if you are craving a cobbler when peaches are out of season you can always use canned peaches. Use three 15 ounce cans and drain the liquid so that it isn't so soupy. Also look for canned peaches that are in peach juice otherwise the dessert will be too sweet.
turbinado sugar- you can also use equal amounts of brown sugar if you have that on hand. Or omit it altogether. The dessert will still taste delicious!
cake mix- Yellow cake mix has a great flavor that closely resembles a cobbler topping. If you prefer a white cake mix you can use that too.
Storage Recommendations
Store leftover peach cobbler in an airtight container for up to 4 days. If your casserole dish does not have a lid, cover well with foil or plastic wrap.
You can rewarm the cobbler in the oven to crisp the crust up or microwave for a few seconds. The top may not be as crisp but it will still taste delicious.
