Equipment

  • casserole dish

Ingredients

  • 4-5 large peaches, sliced (peeling is optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamon or nutmeg
  • cup sugar
  • 1 15.25 ounce box of yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup butter, melted (1 and ½ sticks or 12 tablespoons)
  • 2 teaspoons turbinado sugar or brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350° F. Coat a 9x13 casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • Add sliced peaches to a casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle the peaches with cornstarch, cinnamon and cardamon. Stir to cover all of the peaches.
  • Cover the peaches with cake mix.
  • Pour the melted butter all over the top, using a knife to spread the butter to get as much covered as possible.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. During the last 5 minutes sprinkle the top with turbinado sugar. This is optional but gives a crispy caramelized texture to the crust.
  • The cobbler is done when the peaches are soft and created a thick syrup. The top will be golden brown.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.
