Why this roasted air fryer broccoli is the best!

Roasted broccoli gets those crispy little edges that taste so good!  But it takes 20 minutes to roast in the oven, sigh! And that isn't even counting the time for the oven to preheat to 425!  So let's cut that time in half by making this delicious roasted broccoli in the air fryer!  No preheating needed and you don't need to defrost that broccoli that has been pushed to the back of the freezer.

Of course we have to discuss the nutritional benefits of this recipe too!  Air fryer frozen broccoli is naturally a gluten-free recipe, low carb and is a great source of vitamin c.  Frozen vegetables are frozen and the peak of freshness to insure that the are just as good for you as fresh produce.  Because you do not need to worry with spoilage with frozen vegetables it is easy to have on hand for a delicious side dish any time!

    • time saver-  roasts in a fraction of the time as a conventional oven.
    • health benefits- great source of vitamins and fiber.

    Equipment Needed

PowerXL Air Fryer 7 QT Maxx Classic- is my favorite air fryer that I use everyday. If you have not invested in an air fryer for your kitchen, this is a must have appliance!

    key ingredients

frozen broccoli- frozen broccoli florets are just as good as buying fresh broccoli.

olive oil- I am a fan of using a high quality olive oil for roasting my vegetables, but avocado oil will work well too.

garlic- you can buy a whole head of garlic and mince an individual clove or buy the pre-chopped garlic in the jar.  If you prefer you can use a ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder instead.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Place the broccoli florets in a large mixing bowl.  Drizzle with olive oil, sea salt, cracked black pepper and minced garlic.  Use a spoon to stir the broccoli to cover well with the oil.

Pour the broccoli into the bottom of an air fryer basket.  For best results keep in a single layer and do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
Set the air fryer to 400 degrees and the cooking time for 6 minutes.

Give the florets a good stir at the halfway point to insure even roasting.

    Expert Tips

There is no need for aluminum foil for the basket of the air fryer.  It will stop the hot air from circulating in the air fryer which is what produces the crispy broccoli.

Do not use cooking sprays in air fryer.  If you want to spray the broccoli make sure it is an olive oil spray like this refillable one I use.

I did not have any excess water from the frozen florets.  If there is any it will drain through to the bottom of the air fryer basket.

    Variations

The great thing about broccoli is that you can add so many different flavors to it!  Try some of my favorite ways to jazz up this healthy side dish!  Experiment to find your favorite seasonings!

    • lemon zest and lemon juice
    • parmesan cheese
    • red pepper flakes
    • onion powder
    • Italian seasoning

First off, I love your blog name! I love broccoli, it's such a great source of iron. I need to invest in an air-fryer stat. I appreciate that your recipe does not use any oils and it's easy to make. Thank you!
