Why You’ll Love Cottage Cheese Dip!

This homemade cottage cheese dip has so much flavor and an amazing creamy texture. It is perfect for dipping and scooping with your favorite raw veggies and crackers.

Even if you are not a fan of cottage cheese, you really should give this creamy cottage cheese dip a try. Usually it is the texture of cottage cheese that people do not like. If you are not a fan of the curds, I promise after a minute in the food processor the curds are transformed into this velvety smooth texture that is very similar to cream cheese. And once you add the lemon juice and fresh herbs it really becomes a luscious dip.

The best part is that you can eat this dip guilt free. It is a high protein dip that does not have all the fat like regular veggie dips.

    How Nutritious Is Cottage Cheese?

Cottage cheese has become the latest food trend and is used to make everything from cookie dough to pancakes, but is it really nutritious? The good news is that it is a very wholesome cheese that is much lower in fat than most cheese, low in calories and high in protein.

One cup of cottage cheese has 25 grams of protein making it a perfect ingredient for a high-protein recipe.

    Equipment Needed

food processor or high powder blender- this will make the cottage cheese a smooth texture in just a few seconds. I prefer a food processor for this job but if you do not have one you can use a blender, you may need to scrape the bottom around the blade with a spatula to get all of the curds whipped.

    Key Ingredients

cottage cheese- of course this is the main ingredient so you want to opt for a good quality cottage cheese. I prefer a full-fat cottage cheese because it has a richer flavor and is still low fat in comparison to most cheeses. Of course you can always use use your favorite kind of cottage cheese and use fat-free cottage cheese if you prefer.

lemon zest- adds a great burst of lemon flavor. Use a zester to zest a little of the lemon before squeezing the juice out of it.

lemon juice-a little liquid will actually help the cottage cheese curds become smooth and creamy, plus the lemon gives the healthy veggie dip a bright citrus flavor.

dill- fresh dill complements the citrus flavor of the lemon juice.

parsley- fresh parsley gives a little peppery note to the dip.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve this just like you would a sour cream dip. Here are a few ideas to serve along side your whipped cottage cheese dip.

    • fresh veggies: celery, bell pepper, carrots, and cucumber (or use your favorite veggies)
    • tortilla chips
    • crackers or pita chips
    • potato chips

You can even use this as a spread for sandwiches instead of mayo. Spread a tablespoon on bread or pita bread and layer with cheese and your favorite lunch meat.

    Storage

Store cottage cheese dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. It may need a little stir if it looks separated.

Scooping a bite of the dip on a cracker.

This is the perfect appetizer or snack to prep in advance. Make the dip in advance and keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
