Why this bang bang salmon recipe is the best!
Spicy with a little sweet is the best way to describe this flaky grilled salmon. The marinade takes no time to whip up and cooking takes only 10 minutes! This is one of my husband’s favorite meals!
Key ingredients
sriracha- is an Asian hot sauce that is a little thicker than other hot sauces.
salmon- I prefer skinless fillets for marinating. Buy a large piece of salmon and cut into fillets or ask the fish monger at the grocery store to fillet for you.
mayonnaise- use your favorite mayo for this recipe. I like using a low fat variety but you can also use regular if you prefer.
step-by-step instructions
Mix the ingredients for the marinade; Sriracha, lemon juice, soy sauce and honey. Reserve 2 tablespoons for the bang bang sauce.
Mix together the reserved marinade and the mayo.
Add the salmon to the marinade and place the bowl in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours. Any longer and the acid from the lemon juice will change the texture of the fish.
When ready to grill add the salmon fillets to a 450 degree heated charcoal grill or gas grill. Or heat a grill pan on the stove top to medium high heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes before flipping and cooking for an additional 3- 4 minutes.
How to serve
Plate the salmon and drizzle with bang bang sauce. Serve with lemon wedges and extra sauce on the side.
What is bang bang sauce made of?
Bang bang sauce is a spicy sauce that became very popular at Bonefish restaurant. They use the sauce to coat their fried shrimp appetizer called Bang Bang Shrimp. Bang bang sauce is traditionally a combination of mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce and sriracha. I like adding a couple of tablespoons of my marinade to the mayo because it give a very similar sweet and spicy flavor!
What if i do not have a grill?
No problem! This salmon can be baked in the oven or on the stove top in a grill pan.

FAQ
Why is salmon so healthy?
Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It is also a great source of protein.
How do you know if salmon is cooked through?
Raw salmon is brighter red in color and turns to a pink color as it cooks. Insert a knife into the thickest part of the fillet, if it flakes easily then it is finished cooking.
