When I’m making appetizers for a party I try to plan for the type of appetizer that is only a few ingredients, quick to make and can be made ahead.  These requirements can eliminate any stress at your party so that you can be a great hostess and not stuck in the kitchen all night!  If you need other easy app ideas try my Goat Cheese Stuffed Peppadew Peppers recipe!

How to make blue cheese stuffed dates

I love making Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates because they require only 4 ingredients and no cook time.
First you want to pit your date.  If you’ve never pitted dates it’s very easy.  I just use my small paring knife and cut a slit lengthwise across the date. You will need to open the date and remove the pit.  It’s a quick process you will just get your fingers a little sticky.

Once the pits are removed you can add the crumbled blue cheese inside the opening.  Arrange the dates on your serving platter and press a few chopped walnuts on top.  Drizzle with honey right before serving.

    Are stuffed dates healthy?

I am a fan of Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates because they are made with simple ingredients.  Considering the realm of appetizers that are usually smothered and fried this is certainly a healthier option, however everything in moderation.  Dates while containing fiber and many nutrients are very high in sugar so limit snacking to a couple!

can stuffed dates be made ahead of time?

Another reason why I love this stuffed date recipe is because it can be made ahead of time.   Once I arrange my stuffed dates on the serving platter I cover them and refrigerate for 2-3 days.  When I’m ready to serve I drizzle with honey.
