Why You'll Love This Strawberry Salsa Recipe

I love fresh strawberries and dishes made with them, so why not make a fruit salsa! I love how the strawberries blend well with the refreshing mint and lime, and the slight kick from the jalapenos makes the flavors more interesting!

Another reason to love this strawberry salsa is that it does not require cooking. You just mix everything in a bowl, and voila! You can serve it to your crowd.

    • Flavorful and refreshing—The perfect blend of sweet strawberries, the tanginess of the limes, the slight kick of the jalapenos, and refreshing balance of the mint is a burst of sunshine and flavors in every bite.
    • Easy and quick—Preparing everything only takes a few minutes, making it an excellent choice if you are in a rush.
    • Versatile—Strawberry salsa goes well with almost anything, from chips to grilled meats, or you can enjoy it as it is.

    Equipment Needed

    • Knife
    • Chopping board
    • Mixing bowl
    • Spoon or spatula for stirring

    Key Ingredients

Strawberries are the main event of the dish. Fresh strawberries will be the base of this salsa. Their sweetness and juiciness make this salsa hard to resist.

Jalapeno - Adds a slight kick of spiciness.

Shallots - Adds a more subtle flavor compared to onions.

Mint and cilantro - Adds a hint of earthiness and a refreshing flavor.

White balsamic vinegar - It adds a bit of tanginess but is less acidic than regular vinegar.

Lime-Both lime juice and lime zest add a fragrant hint of citrus and a tangy punch that balances the flavors and sweetness of the strawberries.

The ingredients to make Fresh Strawberry Fruit Salsa

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Prepare the ingredients by thoroughly washing the strawberries and veggies. Hull the strawberries and chop them into very small pieces.

In a bowl, add the chopped strawberries and sprinkle with a teaspoon of sugar to bring out their natural sweetness. This is called maceration and it draws out the strawberries juices and softens them a bit.

You should chop the shallot, cilantro, jalapeno, and mint as finely as possible so that the flavors will combine better.

Add the chopped veggies to the strawberries.

Pour the white balsamic vinegar and lime juice, and add the zest.

Stir everything with a spoon or spatula until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Choppws strawberries on a chopping board, a sliced lime, and the knife used. Chopped strawberries, shallots, and cilantro in a bowl.

    Serving Suggestions

    • One of my favorite ways to serve this salsa is with cinnamon pita chips or tortilla chips. It's a refreshing and vibrant twist on a classic salsa.
    • The natural sweetness of strawberries is an excellent complement to savory flavors, making this the perfect topping for grilled chicken or fish tacos.
    • Add the strawberry salsa to a green salad for crunch and sweetness.

    Substitutions And Additions

Herbs - You can substitute mint with basil and replace cilantro with parsley to discover new, exciting flavors.

Shallot- I like shallots because they have a more subtle flavor, but you can use red or green onion.

Jalapeno—You can add more depending on how spicy you want it to be, or lessen it or remove it if you don't want a kick of spice.

White balsamic vinegar- Use red wine vinegar instead if you don't have it.

    Make Ahead

Strawberry salsa is a perfect make-ahead dish. Store it in an airtight container and put it inside the fridge for 2 to 3 days. The flavors will improve as they set and combine, making it excellent if you prepare for a picnic, party, or meal for later.

    Storage

If there are any leftovers, put them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. Stir it before serving again. It will be tasty and flavorful like the first time with proper storage.
