Equipment Needed
Below are the things you need to make the tastiest boat dip:
- Mixing bowl
- Hand mixer or Spatula
- Measuring spoons
- Can opener
- Serving bowl
Key Ingredients
Cream cheese - It creates a creamy and rich base for the dip. Make sure to soften it to make it easier to mix with the other ingredients.
Sour cream - It helps balance the creaminess of the cream cheese and adds a slight tanginess.
Taco seasoning - With a mix of spices, it gives the classic Tex-Mex flavor.
Fire-Roasted Rotel - Adds a texture, smoky depth, and a pop of flavor.
Shredded cheddar cheese - Adds a sharp, cheesy bite to the dip.
Jalapeño - Adds a little kick of heat and freshness.
Hot sauce - Add extra spice and heat.
Chips or veggie sticks - They are the perfect scooper for this creamy goodness.

Step-By-Step Instructions
In a mixing bowl, place the softened cream cheese and beat it using a hand mixer until light and fluffy. If time is ticking, microwave on 50% power for 30-60 seconds or until soft but not melted.
Add the sour cream and taco seasoning. Stir them using a spatula until everything is fully incorporated.
Fold in cheddar cheese, Rotel, jalapeños, and hot sauce.
Serve immediately or chill until you are ready to serve.

Serving Recommendations
- Serve with potato chips, tortilla chips, or freshly cut veggie sticks.
- Spread on tortillas and roll into pinwheels for an easy or grab-and-go snack.
- Pair it with grilled meat at BBQ parties for a zesty side.
- Add it to your birthday party dips line-up!

Make Ahead
This dip is great to make a few hours before the event. Cover or store in an airtight container and refrigerate it until you are ready to serve. The flavors develop and get better as they sit.

Storage
If there are leftovers or you intentionally make extra servings, transfer them into an airtight container and put it inside the fridge for up to 3 days. Stir before serving again. This boat dip is not freezer-friendly because it has a dairy base.

Expert Tips
Control the heat - If you are not into spicy dishes, skip the jalapeños and hot sauce, or add more if you prefer extra heat.
Use a full-fat dairy - it will give the creamiest, most decadent, and most flavorful texture of dip.
Serve fresh or chilled - Both taste amazing, but chilling makes the flavors deepen.
Party trick - Double or triple the recipe if you will be feeding a crowd.

Boat Dip
Ingredients
- 1 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream

If you are short on time you can unwrap the cream cheese, place it in the bowl you will be mixing the dip in and microwave on 50% power for 30 second intervals until it is soft- just do not melt the cream cheese!
- Add the sour cream and taco seasoning and mix well with the cream cheese to incorporate all of the taco seasoning.
- Add the drained Rotel, cheddar cheese, jalapeno and hot sauce. Use a spatula to mix together and serve right away or chill till ready to serve.
