From slimy textures to strange smells, these foods don’t make the cut in their kitchens or on their plates. Curious what makes a world-class chef say “no thanks”? Here are some surprising foods that celebrity chefs say they’ll never eat, no matter what.

Gordon Ramsay Says No to Pineapple on Pizza

Gordon Ramsay is famous for his strong opinions, and pineapple on pizza is one of them. He says fruit has no place on a savory pie, no matter how popular it is.

According to him, the sweetness throws off the whole flavor. He’s voiced this opinion on several shows and interviews. Even when fans challenge him, he stands firm. It’s a hard pass from Gordon every time.

    Ina Garten Won’t Touch Cilantro

Ina Garten, also known as the Barefoot Contessa, avoids cilantro completely. She says it tastes like soap to her, and she’s not alone; many people have a gene that makes it taste strange.

Even though it’s common in many cuisines, she never cooks with it. Ina prefers to use parsley or basil instead. For her, cilantro ruins an otherwise perfect dish. She simply can’t enjoy a meal if it’s in there.

Guy Fieri Refuses to Eat Eggs

It may be hard to believe, but the host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives doesn’t eat eggs. Guy Fieri says it’s a texture thing for him. He didn’t grow up eating them, and he never developed a taste.

Scrambled or sunny-side up, it doesn’t matter; he avoids them all. He’ll cook them for others, but you won’t see him dig in. Eggs are definitely off his personal menu.

Rachael Ray Can’t Handle Sea Urchin

Rachael Ray is adventurous with food, but sea urchin (also called uni) is her deal-breaker. She says the texture and taste just don’t sit right with her. It’s creamy, briny, and a bit too fishy for her palate.

Rachael has tried it repeatedly but still can’t get used to it. Even at high-end sushi spots, she politely passes. It’s one food she knows she’ll never crave.

    Andrew Zimmern Avoids Walnuts

This one might surprise you, Andrew Zimmern, the man who eats bugs and bizarre dishes, avoids walnuts. It’s not because they’re exotic, but because he’s allergic. Even a small bite can cause a serious reaction.

He’s spoken openly about carrying an EpiPen just in case. For someone so open to strange foods, it’s ironic that a common nut is his biggest no-go. Safety comes first, even for adventurous eaters.

    Bobby Flay Won’t Eat Durian

Bobby Flay is known for bold flavors, but he draws the line at durian. He says the smell is just too strong and unpleasant. Described as a mix of onions, garlic, and rotting fruit, durian is infamous worldwide.

Even though it’s a delicacy in some cultures, Bobby has never liked it. He’s tried it a few times for the sake of TV but never enjoyed it. It’s a food he just can’t warm up to.

Padma Lakshmi, host of Top Chef, does not love Jell-O. She says it reminds her of hospitals and childhood illnesses. The wobbly texture and artificial flavor are also major turn-offs.

She prefers natural desserts with fresh ingredients. Padma has said she doesn’t even like it in playful, nostalgic dishes. To her, Jell-O is more science experiment than food.

The late Anthony Bourdain was known for trying almost anything, but chicken nuggets were not his thing. He felt they were too processed and bland. He criticized how they’re made and the ingredients used.

She chooses more humane options when planning meals. Giada believes food should align with her values. Veal doesn’t make the cut.

Emeril Lagasse is all about fresh, bold flavors, so canned cheese doesn’t belong in his kitchen. He says it lacks real cheese flavor and feels artificial. He’s big on authenticity, and processed cheese just isn’t part of that.

For him, real cheese should be aged, sliced, or grated, not sprayed. He’s joked that it’s not even real food. It’s one ingredient he refuses to cook with.

Nigella Lawson has a sophisticated palate, but she's not a fan of tripe. The smell and texture are too intense, and even when cooked well, she finds it unappetizing.

She respects that it’s part of traditional cooking in many cultures. Still, it’s just not for her. She says she’s allowed one or two foods she can’t enjoy.

Martha Stewart has cooked almost everything, but she doesn’t enjoy octopus. She finds the texture rubbery and the taste too chewy. Even when prepared by great chefs, she just can’t enjoy it.

She also feels a bit guilty about eating such intelligent sea creatures. Martha says it’s one food she respects but won’t eat. Her menus stay octopus-free.
