Having a Costco membership is a game-changer for my family. It lets us stock up on everyday grocery essentials in bulk, which adds up to major savings over the course of the year. Many of the items we buy are from Costco’s signature brand, Kirkland — not only are they more affordable than what you'd find at a typical grocery store, but they’re also high-quality and often organic.

The best way to save at Costco is to focus on core food staples — think protein, vegetables, grains, and dairy — and avoid the tempting snack aisles that lead to unnecessary spending. Our go-to buys include olive oil, peanut butter, chicken, cheese, and especially eggs! Buying these basics at Costco consistently saves us money while keeping our meals nutritious and high-quality.
Olive Oil

Olive oil is an ingredient I use everyday in my kitchen for cooking foods, marinades and salad dressings. High quality olive oil is expensive so buying at Costco is a great way to save on this essential ingredient.
Extracts/Spices

Costco has a great selection of baking ingredients and spices that we use on a daily basis. This vanilla extract is pure and not made with artificial ingredients plus the quantity is more than what you find at your local grocer.
Nuts

Nuts are a terrific healthy snack and can be added to baked goods, salads or trail mixes. Buying almonds, walnuts and pecans at Costco is a great savings.
Honey

We use honey for baking, marinades and salad dressings so buying a larger bottle for less money is always a win. We love the flavor of the Kirkland Signature honey and use this in our house daily.
Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is a wonderful pantry staple that we always keep in our house. This creamy organic peanut butter is an amazing price for 2 large jars. We spread this on toast for breakfast or add a spoonful to our oatmeal in the morning for a protein packed meal.
Eggs

Eggs have definitely gone up in price over the past few years, but I love that I can still buy organic free-range eggs at Costco for a fair price. With this carton I get two dozen for the same price I'd pay for one dozen at the local supermarket.
Coffee

Costco has a great selection of coffee and whole beans if you want to grind your own. These large 2.5 pound bags of coffee offer much more for your money than the small 12 ounce bag at a typical grocery store.
Rotisserie Chicken

Of course everyone knows that Costco's rotisserie chicken is an amazing bargain! These ready to eat whole chickens are still around $5 which is an amazing savings. We use shredded rotisserie chicken to make casseroles, quesadillas or salads. Not only does this item save money but also lots of time on a busy day!
Wine/Liquor

Costco has a great selection of wine and there prices are always better than what you will find at other stores. Costco also has a separate liquor store attached which offers a great selection of liquor with great prices too.
Cheese

We buy all of our cheese at Costco for so much less than the supermarkets. Parmesan, goat cheese, and mozzarella are a few of our favorites and the price for the quantity is amazing!
Organic Meat

Costco has a great selection of high quality meat. We buy Costco's organic chicken which is a great price per pound. My husband also loves their steak selection and seafood which is higher quality and a great savings.
