How To Bake Cookie Mix In A Jar
When your gift recipient is ready to bake their Christmas Cookie in a Jar, they will need:
- ½ cup unsalted butter. Use softened butter.
- 1 large egg, room temperature.
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.

Step-By-Step Instructions To Bake The Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream the butter by beating it until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla, then mix until smooth.
Pour in the dry ingredients from the jar and stir until everything is evenly incorporated.

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes or, if you have time, up to several hours to help the dough hold its shape.
Use a cookie scoop, about 1 ½ tablespoons per cookie, and place the dough balls 2 inches apart on your baking sheet.
Bake for 11 minutes, let them cool on the tray for at least 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.

Substitutions And Additions
You can easily personalize this DIY Christmas Cookie Mix Gift by trying out the ideas below:
- Swap the cranberries for raisins if you prefer a classic oatmeal raisin flavor.
- Use dark or milk chocolate chips instead of white chocolate chips.
- Feel free to use all cinnamon if you don't have nutmeg or ginger on hand.
Note: Different flours haven't been tested, and adding both nuts and chips may overcrowd the jar.

Expert Tips
- To keep the jar neat and prevent ingredients from shifting, pack each layer tightly. This will also insure that ALL of the ingredients will fit in the jar perfectly.
- Don't forget to print the free printable gift tag so your gift recipients have the instructions on how to bake these delicious cookies.
- Use your favorite ribbon or fabric to decorate the jars!
- Use wide-mouth jars; they are easier to fill and pour from later.
