However, knowing which foods are safe and which ones to avoid is important. Always give these treats in small amounts, and check with your vet if your dog has health issues. Here are some safe people foods your dog can enjoy with you.

    Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is a tasty treat that most dogs love. It's full of protein and healthy fats that can be good for your pup. Look for plain, unsalted peanut butter with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Xylitol is a sweetener that can be deadly to dogs, so always check the label first. You can use peanut butter to hide pills or put it inside a toy to keep your dog busy. A spoonful now and then is a fun and safe way to spoil your dog.

    Apples

Apples are a crunchy and sweet snack that dogs can enjoy. They’re packed with vitamins A and C, as well as fiber. Be sure to remove the core and seeds before sharing, as apple seeds can be harmful.

Slice the apple into small pieces for easy chewing and to prevent choking. Apples can help freshen your dog’s breath and make a great low-calorie treat. They’re perfect for a light snack on a hot day.

    Carrots

Carrots are great for dogs and can be served raw or cooked. They are full of beta-carotene, which helps with eye health and immune function. Crunchy raw carrots also help clean your dog’s teeth.

Cut them into sticks or small rounds for a safe chew. Cooked carrots are softer and better for older dogs with sensitive teeth. They're a great treat choice with very few calories.

    Blueberries

Blueberries are a superfood for both humans and dogs. They are full of antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins. These tiny berries can help support your dog’s immune system and brain health.

Depending on your dog's preference, you can give them fresh or frozen. Just a few at a time is all it takes for a tasty and healthy treat. They’re also a fun food to use for training rewards.

    Plain Chicken

Plain, cooked chicken is a good source of protein for dogs. Make sure it’s skinless and has no seasoning, garlic, or onions. Boiled or baked chicken is best, without any sauces.

You can mix it with your dog’s regular food or offer it as a treat. It’s gentle on the stomach and often used in bland diets. Dogs with sensitive stomachs may benefit from chicken meals.

    Plain Rice

Plain white or brown rice can be very soothing for a dog’s tummy. It’s easy to digest and often recommended when dogs are sick. Cooked rice with no salt or seasoning is best.

You can mix it with plain chicken for a comforting meal. Just make sure not to overfeed, as too much rice can add unnecessary carbs. Use it as part of a balanced treat or meal.

    Pumpkin

Plain canned pumpkin is great for dogs, especially for digestion. It’s high in fiber and can help with both constipation and diarrhea. Make sure to use pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling.

A spoonful added to your dog’s food can be very helpful. Dogs usually love the taste and texture. It’s a healthy, easy way to support their gut health.

    Sweet Potatoes

Cooked sweet potatoes are a yummy and nutritious option for dogs. They’re rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Make sure they’re soft and free of salt, butter, or spices.

Mash or cube them for easy feeding. Sweet potatoes support healthy digestion and give your dog lasting energy. They’re a great replacement for processed dog treats.

    Oatmeal

Plain cooked oatmeal is a good source of fiber and can be soothing for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Avoid instant oatmeal with added sugars or flavors. Cook it with water only, no milk, which can upset your dog’s belly.

Let it cool before serving to prevent burns. Oatmeal can also help with skin and coat health. It’s a warm and comforting treat on chilly days.

    Green Beans

Green beans are low in calories and high in fiber, making them perfect for dogs. Serve them cooked or raw, but skip the salt and spices.

They’re filling and can help dogs feel satisfied if they’re on a diet. Cut them into bite-sized pieces to avoid choking. Many dogs enjoy the crunch and fresh taste. They’re an easy way to add veggies to your dog’s routine.

    Cheese

Most dogs love cheese, and it can be a great high-reward treat. Choose plain, low-fat cheeses like mozzarella or cottage cheese.

Some dogs are lactose intolerant, so start with a small amount. Avoid cheeses with herbs or added flavors. Use cheese to train or hide medication. Just remember it’s rich and should be given in moderation.

    Eggs

Cooked eggs are full of protein and healthy fats for your dog. Scrambled or boiled eggs with no salt or oil are best. Eggs also contain vitamins that support your dog’s coat and skin.

Don’t feed raw eggs, as they can carry bacteria. A little egg mixed into food can be a big treat. Dogs usually love the soft, rich texture.

    Bananas

Bananas are sweet, soft, and easy for dogs to eat. They’re packed with potassium and vitamins, but they’re also sugary, so feed in moderation. Peel the banana and offer small chunks as a snack.

You can even freeze banana slices for a cool treat in the summer. Many dogs enjoy the taste and texture. Bananas are perfect for dogs with a sweet tooth.

    Cucumbers

Cucumbers are refreshing and crunchy, especially in warm weather. They’re low in calories and contain lots of water. Slice them into thin rounds for a quick snack.

Avoid pickled cucumbers or ones with spices. Cucumbers can help keep your dog hydrated and make a great treat for overweight dogs. They’re also a fun treat for teething puppies.

    Watermelon

Watermelon is a hydrating fruit that dogs can enjoy on hot days. Remove the seeds and rind before serving. The red flesh is full of vitamins and water.

Cut it into small cubes or freeze pieces for a fun snack. It’s sweet, but low in calories, so it’s safe in small amounts. Dogs love the juicy crunch and fresh taste.
