Equipment

  • highball glass or tall glass
  • muddler or wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 2-3 strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ½ teaspoon turbinado sugar
  • 5-6 mint leaves
  • 2 ounces lime juice, fresh squeezed
  • ice cubes
  • club soda

Instructions

  • Add the sliced strawberries and turbinado sugar to a highball or tall glass.
  • Use a muddler or a wooden spoon to smash the strawberries.
  • Add the fresh lime juice and the mint leaves to the glass and gently muddle the leaves just enough to release their flavor.
  • Add ice cubes to the glass and fill with chilled club soda.
  • Stir the cocktail and add fresh lime slices and mint sprigs for garnish.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

It is best to gently muddle the mint gently to release the juices.  The leaves do not need to be ripped and smashed.  Being to aggressive with muddling the mint will actually result in a more bitter flavor so be gentle and just give the mint 3-4 twists with the muddler.
