Easy homemade hot chocolate is the perfect drink during the cold weather months. If you are snowed in and completely out of hot cocoa mixes, do not panic. This delicious recipe using real chocolate will be the best hot chocolate you have had! Hot chocolate made with high quality chocolate chips, is creamy rich and the best way to make this hot drink!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Do not bring the milk to a boil. Scald the milk which is when small bubbles start to appear around the edges of the saucepan.
  • Once the milk is scalded, add the chocolate chips and salt. Stir with a whisk until the chocolate melts into the milk.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with marshmallows or additional toppings.
