Ingredients

Slaw Mix

  • 8 cups cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  • 2 tablespoons white onion, grated

Dressing

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add the milk, vinegar and lemon juice and let sit to curdle while grating the vegetables. This will create buttermilk.
  • Finely shred the cabbage and add to a large mixing bowl. Peel and grate the carrot and white onion and add to the bowl.
  • Whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, salt, and pepper with the prepared buttermilk until completely smooth.
  • Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss well until every shred is evenly coated.
  • Cover with plastic wrap or transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • Give it a good stir before serving and drain off any excess liquid for the best texture.
