Pumpkin Pie without Evaporated Milk

If you are baking on Thanksgiving and realize you forgot the evaporated milk- you can use regular milk with just a few steps.  

The ingredients needed for the pumpkin pie are eggs, pure pumpkin, sugar, spices, whole milk and a pie crust.   

Make homemade evaporated milk by simmering whole milk on the stove top.  Then strain the solids.

Meanwhile blind bake the pie crust with beans or pie weights.

Mix together the sugar and spices

In a seperate bowl mix eggs, milk, and pumpkin puree.

Then add the sugar and mix everything together.

Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes.  Then reduce the temp to 350 for 35-40 minutes.

Pie must cool for 4 hours.

Cut into slices and decorate with whipped cream.
